Checked, and not listing Stanton pickup

  • Zhang Sah. Its pickup list covers Meredith, Jackson, Christopher Columbus Charter, Nebinger, McCall, ICS, St. Mary, St. Peter’s and Vare-Washington, not Stanton.
  • Old Pine Community Center. Picks up from McCall, Meredith, Nebinger and St. Peter’s only.
  • Settlement Music School. Escorts from Meredith, Nebinger and McCall only, though the school’s page says more than 80 students take part in Settlement’s orchestra program at Stanton.
  • Philly Art Center. Its Queen Village after-school pickup list does not include Stanton.
  • Mighty Writers. No South Philadelphia location near the school; its closest, El Futuro at 1025 S 9th St, is about a mile east.

Also on the school’s own site

The school’s home page names these activities, without saying when they meet or whether they run after school. Ask the office.

  • Arts, music and dance: Dance Club, African Drum Club, Rock Band, Running Club, Orchestra, Chorus, and a poetry program through Writing Matters. The page says Bainbridge House has provided African drum and dance programming for more than 25 years.
  • Sports: flag football, track and volleyball, with a doctor-signed physical form required. Intramurals for grades K–5, and the Middle Grades Conference for grades 6–8.
  • A robotics team, which the page says competed in the 2024 World Championships.

Before you enroll

  • Pickup lists change every year, and most providers need a minimum number of children from a school. Ask each one to confirm Stanton pickup for the days you need.
  • Ask what happens on early-dismissal days and district days off.
  • City rec centers post each year’s after-school listing late, so call before counting on a price or a spot. Their listings live in the Parks & Rec finder.
  • Free, city-funded programs are in the city’s After School and Summer Program Locator.
  • Stanton has free before and after school care in the building, run by Sunrise of Philadelphia. Enrollment is open all year on Sunrise’s site.
  • The Christian Street YMCA is a short walk west on Christian St, and the Y’s before-and-after-school page lists that branch as serving Stanton, with care from 7 am and until 6 pm.
  • Beehive’s 2026–27 after-care list for its Rittenhouse site named Stanton when we read it on October 6. Beehive’s site doesn’t give that location’s address or hours, so ask Beehive directly.
  • The school’s partners page also names Marian Anderson Recreation Center (740 S 17th St), Mighty Writers and a homework club at Grace and Peace Community Church, without saying what each offers or when. Ask the office.
